Ghyllmount News
Ghyllmount Dental is offering FREE MOUTH CANCER SCREENING during November to coincide with Mouth Cancer Action Month.
Without early detection it is estimated the disease could claim 30,000
lives over the next decade.
With this in mind, we are welcoming both existing patients and
non-patients to visit us for free mouth cancer screening.
Appointments are available throughout November, and everyone is
welcome to bring a friend – you might just save their life if anything
unusual is detected in the early stages.”
Simply call or email the practice to arrange an appointment.
BEST PRACTICE IN THE UK (Small town category)
We are very proud to announce that Ghyllmount Dental returned winners of ‘BEST PRACTICE IN THE UK’ (Small town category) at the ELITE PRACTICE AWARDS.
After the judges visited the practice unannounced in August, Mr Lewis and Mrs Anderton travelled down to the awards ceremony at Windsor on Friday where they presented to a panel of 10 judges.
The judges commented that “The ELITE PRACTICE AWARDS, is a new generation of awards that recognise and reward true excellence in modern dental practice. The winning practices represent the pinnacle of dentistry in the UK today. They are practising to the highest standard and with the highest professionalism. The real measure is across-the-board excellence and the winners have shown to be some of the best examples of UK dentistry.”
We are delighted to win this award which demonstrates our dedication to working to the highest standards, to our patients and to our profession. Special thanks of course must go to our outstanding team who make our achievements possible.

The team at Ghyllmount Dental are proud to be involved with a new scheme supporting medically retired Royal Marines, giving them help and support by providing free basic dental care for life.
Founded in May 2008, the purpose of The C Group is to raise awareness and generate practical support throughout the business community for Royal Marines, particularly those who are suffering the long-term effects of injuries sustained on operations.
Adjusting to civilian life after leaving the services due to disability caused in the line of duty can be a challenging period for a former Royal Marine. Sixty-four dental practices have already signed up to help support them.
‘Coming home and trying to settle into normal life is harder than people image and routine procedures such as going to a dentist can be immensely daunting,' said Colonel Hutton, the Chief Executive of The C Group. 'What C Group and its network of supporting dentists are offering is choice. A [former Royal Marine] can decide whether to go with the NHS system or take the opportunity to receive basic private dental care for free. This scheme will offer an extra helping hand to aid their rehabilitation.'
“I would like to thank our Members for their ideas and support as we take The C Group forward. As you read this Royal Marines are serving around the world; I know you will be following their progress closely and wishing them a safe return.”

Ghyllmount Dental has recently achieved the prestigious Denplan Excel Practice Accreditation.
Supported by the Patients Association, the Denplan Excel Practice accreditation is a prestigious award and provides a visible sign of our commitment to quality and proves to our practice members, our patients, fellow dentists and the general public that we have reached the exacting standards set by the Denplan Excel programme.
Not only does it demonstrate that the quality of care, treatment and service that we provide is among the best available, but that you will be safe in the knowledge that our practice not only meets, but even exceeds standards of clinical governance, statutory requirements and industry best practice recommendations
We were very excited to receive the news that we have been fully accredited as a Denplan Excel Dentist and look forward to working with Denplan on a continuing journey of quality improvement.
We were delighted to recieve the news that we have won £500 to invest in our prevention suite, which helps to educate parents and children on all areas of their oral health including toothbrush instruction and diet advice.
Well over 2000 dental practices across England and Wales have been participating in the scheme for the past 6 months as part of the British Dental Trade Associations (BDTA) ‘Kick out the sweets, bring on the treats’ change4life campaign.
We are extremely proud of the care we offer our children and believe that prevention and education is essential to both parents and children alike, to help enjoy excellent oral health for life.
Linda offers FREE oral health assessments to adults and children, so if you have any concerns or worries, simply call the practice to arrange a free assessment.

The team at Ghyllmount enjoyed their first festival 'Ghyll-Fest' which was held in Mr Lewis's field.
All the team, their partners and children enjoyed a day of fun and frolics which included rounders, cricket and a duck race. Food was supplied by Tim Lorton aka 'Jacket potato man' and live music played into the night courtesy of 'The Deluxe'.
Most people retired to their tents around midnight after a fun filled day.
Ghyll-Fest will definitely be repeated next year. A good time was had by all!
