John Lewis
Principal (BDS Sheffield 1986)
John is an experienced, forward thinking dentist, committed to providing high quality dental care. As well as being exceptionally popular with his patients, he is a motivational team leader.
In Dentistry his special interests lie with dentures and Invisalign.
Outside of work he enjoys family time with his wife, a local GP and his three children. He also has a love of the fells and sailing.
Tony Walvish
Associate (BDS Hons, MDGSRCS Eng)
Tony has had many years experience in all areas of general and cosmetic dentistry and was one of the first dentists in England to achieve the prestigious MGDS qualification. His kind and sympathetic nature have earned him a glowing reputation particularly with nervous adults and children.
In his own time Tony is a huge fan of the wonderful countryside here in Cumbria. He lives in Borrowdale and spends his spare time with his wife, fell walking, gardening and tending their allotment. He is also a keen cook and amateur photographer.
Shiona Anderton
Associate (BDS Manchester 1992)
Shiona joined us in 1999 and has made her name as a family dentist due to her caring nature. She is committed to professional development, regularly attending courses on aesthetic dentistry. She has a keen interest in facial aesthetics and Botox and has been personally trained by Dr Bob Khanna.
Shiona is married to a local vet and has provided advice for small animal dental cases. She is kept busy at home with two young children and enjoys rare peace in the garden.
Ben Harrison
Associate (BDS Newcastle)
Ben's main interests lie in endodontics (root canal treatment) and cosmetic dentistry. He understands that the best way to meet patient's expectations is through clear communication of all treatment options. Using the highest quality laboratories and communicating through detailed photographs, Ben works closely with the technicians to achieve the most natural aesthetic results.
Ben is also currently working towards an MSc in Endodontics at Chester University, and he also accepts referrals from other dentists for provision of high quality root fillings. Outside the surgery, Ben's main hobbies are cricket and running.
Rachel Gibson
Associate (BDS Newcastle)
We were delighted when Rachel Gibson decided to return to Ghyllmount. She is Cumbrian by birth, being born and brought up in the town of Kendal and qualified from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a distinction in clinical dentistry.
With her warm and caring nature and captivating sense of humour she is excellently suited to provide family friendly dentistry.
Her outside interests include creating culinary delights for family and friends and more recently is planning the interior design of a recent extension of her home!
Neil Sampson
Associate (MFGDP(UK), BDS Birm)
Neil joined Ghyllmount in 2010, and is married to June with two children, Jack and Scarlet. Neil has been treating patients under conscious sedation since 1987. It is a fantastic technique for patients who are anxious or nervous about visiting the dentist and can be used alongside all types of dental treatment. Conscious sedation relaxes the patient so they can undergo the dental treatment without fear and worry.
Neil has extensive intra oral dental implant experience and has been placing dental implants since 1999. They are used to replace missing teeth and can also be used as connectors to dentures making the dentures firm and stable.
He has long experience of advanced restorative and aesthetic treatment and is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology.
Outside dentistry he enjoys watching rugby, walking over the fells and keeping fit at the gym.
Louise Fell
Hygienist (Edinburgh 2003 DipDH)
Louise has worked with us since July 2003. She strives to give a dazzling smile to our patients with Scale and Polishes, Airflow stain removal, Home and Zoom Tooth Whitening.
In her own time Louise enjoys, racing her Alaskan Malamute, Indy, through forests around the country!
Linda Holmes
Therapist (Liverpool 2007 Dip DH and Dental Therapy)
Linda has many years experience in the dental field, first as a dental nurse before progressing to practice manager. She joined our team in January 2008 following her graduation from Liverpool University with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy.
Her special interest is in Children's oral health and disease prevention.
Support Team
We are very proud of the team spirit at Ghyllmount. We all strive to achieve the best possible care for all our patients. Day to day running of the practice is overseen by our Business manager Karon Kirkland, ably assisted by Practice manager Rebecca Mullen.
Through their determination and drive Ghyllmount Dental was proud to be awarded Best Practice Northwest in the 2009 Dentistry awards.
