From Fillings to Implants: A Patient’s Story
For years, one of our patients enjoyed excellent health and a love of the fells, even completing biannual rounds of the Wainwrights. But while the body kept up, the teeth began to struggle.
“My teeth were not in good condition, with multiple fillings and root canal treatments over many years. In 2022, a couple of lower molars were no longer repairable and the upper molars were also concerning. I was delighted to meet Neil, Amy and other team members to discus implant work.”
That’s when he came to Ghyllmount and met Neil, Amy, and the team to discuss dental implants.
First Implants, First Impressions
Understandably, he was nervous. Neil suggested carrying out implant work in tandem, but he chose to start with the lower teeth as they were top priority.
“The treatment was not painful albeit I found the mouldings a bit uncomfortable but quickly over. I have found the implants excellent, no problems eating, easy to clean, and a welcome visual improvement on my old teeth.”
Confidence for Round Two
With the first stage complete, confidence grew. Recently, he began his second round of implant work, this time replacing upper molars and addressing two more lower ones.
“Having gained confidence from my first implants, I’m very happy to have the implant work undertaken in tandem. This should mean everything can be concluded within a few months. I have to say Neil’s four extractions were astonishingly quick. I was in the chair for 20 minutes, including injections and time for complete numbness, a testament to Neil’s skill and experience.”

“It’s wonderful to see the advances in dental treatments, not just implants but the 3d scans, as well as improvements in injections and materials. Digital scanning meant no messy impressions and a much clearer view of the treatment ahead. It also gave the patient confidence, being able to see the planning in real time and understand how precise and predictable the results would be.
