Given the character of the illness, people with dementia deserve and need special consideration.

Many congratulations to Eleanor Mounsey on her Highly Commended award for Practice Manager of the Year. She was thoroughly spoiled at the Towergate Care Awards yesterday and treated to lunch at the Dorchester followed by the ceremony hosted by Denise Van Outen.
Much excitement today here at Ghyllmount. Karon Kirkland (ably assisted by her husband Sean) has won Bronze in the First Timers category with our 'Ghyllmount Marmalade' at the Dalemain Marmalade awards!
We are all very pleased for Karon and Sean. Well done on your fantastic effort!
Wishing dental nurse Rachel Emerson and her husband Roy the best of luck when they will shortly join the chairty 'Mission Guatemala' for 5 weeks. We look forward to welcoming her back to the practice in April.
In January 2005 the Humphries family left England for Guatemala. They work in an indigenous (native) town which is extremely poor and gang violence and corruption make people's lives very hard. They set up a school which now teaches 170 children, with a few now starting University, something they would never have been able to do otherwise.
They also run a church, a family and learning sponsorship programme and work with the women of the town, many of whom cannot read or write.
There is much excitement for our Practice Manager Eleanor Mounsey today following the news that she has been shortlisted to the final 3 for the Towergate Care Awards - Practice Manager of the Year.
The awards ceremony will be held at The Dorchester Hotel ,London on 23 March.
The event will be hosted by Denise Van Outen.

We were delighted to welcome the Lowther Beavers to Ghyllmount on Tuesday night to help them work towards their 'Health and Fitness Activity Badge'.
They all behaved beautifully and hopefully learned lots of things about tooth brushing and the quantities of sugar hidden in our everyday food.
GHYLLMOUNT GOES ORANGE!
In preparation for the Marmalade Festival we have produced our very first 'Ghyllmount Marmalade'. We are entering the 'First Timers' catagorey.
The marmalade will be on sale from next week at £3.00 per jar. All proceeds go to Hospice at Home.

We are proud to announce that Ghyllmount is now a Local Member of the Penrith Dementia Action Alliance (DAA)
We are delighted to be part of this Alliance, supporting the people of Penrith and Eden with dementia. By being part of this we hope to help raise awareness and encourage other businesses to join up too.
Penrith DAA was formed in 2016. The alliance aims to bring together individuals, organisations and businesses across the town, uniting in the common goal of helping local people with dementia remain active in their community.
They hope for a membership spanning a wide range of sectors and with representation of local people with dementia and carers in some way too.
