Our business manager Karon has celebrated being at the practice 30 years this week. What an incredible achievement. Ghyllmount Dental would not be the place it is today without all Karon’s hard work and effort she puts in on a daily basis. She really is one of a kind and her door is always open if we ever need her. Thank you Karon. Here’s to 30 more years.

A Charity Truck Run being held during World Autism Week 2019. We are raising money for Cumbria Autism Family Support Project (part of Carlisle Mencap), which helps to support and advise families in the county with children who have an autism diagnosis.
Our son has taught us so much since his diagnosis at age 3, and we are very much learning on the job!! Sadly, we have had numerous negative experiences when out in public, and because of this we feel passionate about educating people about what autism is and some of the difficulties that individuals and their families can face.
“Autism is not a choice, however acceptance is”.
Many thanks to the lovely Jeremy Angus who came along to Ghyllmount yesterday to talk to the team about autism.
He gave us all a better understanding of autism and ways in which we can make a visit to the dentist a little easier for those with autism and their carers.
We would love to hear from you too if you can think of ways where we can improve the service and things we can do to make your visit a bit less stressful.
Thanks again to Jeremy, we could have done with a whole day on the subject!
TIME TO CHANGE!
We are pleased to sign the Employer Pledge "Time to Change" where we have demonstrated our commitment to change how we think and act about mental health in the workplace and make sure that our employees who are facing these problems feel supported.
We are pleased to have arranged our first Autism training session in March. As a team we would like to have a better understanding of Autism and would like to know more about ways in which we can make a difference to those with autism and their carers when they visit Ghyllmount. Looking forward to an interesting day with our trainer Jeremy Angus.
Many thanks to Brush-Baby for sending us a box of goodies as we think more about our patients with Autism and as we prepare for out Autism training day in March. Those with autism can find the chewable toothbrush particularity helpful. Thanks again to the brilliant Brush-Baby
Every year countless pieces of oral care products end up in landfill sites across the UK.
Here at Ghyllmount we are now working with Terracycle, to prevent them ending up in landfill.
Not only will we be helping the environment, but the waste you recycle with us also helps to fund schools or organisations.
Bring your old oral health products to the reception desk and we will do the rest for you.
Before Christmas the team were out and about delivering our Ghyllmount referral boxes to all the wonderful dental practices in Cumbria. It was really nice to meet so many lovely people during our visits and great to have received so many referrals since. Thank you, we do appreciate it.
We are pleased to announce that our final tally for our fundraising in support of The Firefighters Charity for 2018 is £710. Many thanks to our very kind sponsors and all who have supported our fundraising during 2018.
Our chosen charity for 2019 is The Royal British Legion. Please continue to bring in your unwanted books for our charity Ghyllmount Book Corner.
Another trip down to London today for the Oral Health Awards 2018!!
Huge congratulations to Linda Holmes winning Best Therapist of the year, well deserved Linda. We are very proud of her achievements!
